KAGADI TOWN COUNCIL ENGAGES ST. MARY’S CHURCH KAGADI PARISH ON COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
KAGADI —Kagadi Town Council has engaged St. Mary’s Church Kagadi Parish in strengthening collaboration between the local government and the Church to promote community development and improve the wellbeing of residents.
The engagement highlighted the important role of religious institutions in supporting education, nurturing responsible citizens, promoting environmental conservation and responding to the needs of vulnerable members of the community.
Speaking to the congregation, the Mayor of Kagadi Town Council, Hon. Kasaija William Mugenyi, emphasised the need for leaders, churches, communities and development partners to work together in shaping the future of Kagadi.
The Mayor linked the engagement to the broader vision of the New Kagadi Development Concept 2026–2050, which seeks to guide the town towards becoming a smart, inclusive and investment-ready urban centre.
The development vision places emphasis on modern physical planning, improved infrastructure, better roads and drainage, commercial development, education, youth empowerment, ICT, environmental protection and stronger opportunities for investment.
Particular attention was also given to the importance of greening Kagadi and protecting the environment. The town's development agenda encourages tree planting, responsible waste management and protection of wetlands and other natural resources as Kagadi continues to urbanise.
The partnership with the Church also recognises the importance of education and support for vulnerable children. Religious institutions and other community organisations can play an important role in helping children remain connected to education and accessing opportunities that can improve their future.
The engagement further encouraged the participation of the private sector, community organisations and development partners in supporting projects that can create employment, improve services and strengthen the local economy.
Kagadi Town Council stressed that the transformation of the town cannot be achieved by government alone. It requires cooperation between local leaders, residents, religious institutions, businesses, investors, government agencies and development partners.
The engagement with St. Mary’s Church therefore represents an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the Church and local government while building a common understanding of the development priorities of Kagadi.
As Kagadi continues to grow, the town leadership is encouraging residents and institutions to embrace a shared vision of a cleaner, greener, better-planned and more prosperous town.
The message from the engagement was clear: the future of Kagadi is a shared responsibility, and lasting transformation will come through unity, partnership and collective action.
NEW KAGADI — BUILDING A SMART, GREEN, INCLUSIVE AND INVESTMENT-READY TOWN.
