Kagadi Town Council meets the Asian community of Kagadi
For the first time in the history of Kagadi Town, the political leadership and technical staff of Kagadi Town Council sat down with the Asian business community of Kagadi for a dedicated partnership and investment dialogue. Addressing the gathering, the Mayor and Chairperson LC III, Hon. Kasaija William Mugenyi, thanked the community for years of service, employment and business development in the town. "Over the years, we have greatly benefited from the services, businesses and companies that you have brought to Kagadi Town Council and to the district at large," he said, describing the evening as a special occasion to strengthen relationships and explore opportunities for working together. The Mayor used the meeting to formally invite the community, together with their partners in Kampala, Nairobi and across Africa and Asia, to participate in The New Kagadi Town Development Concept 2026-2050 - a long-term framework for the physical, economic, social and investment development of the town. Key commitments shared with the investors included: detailed physical planning for an expanded Central Business Area of about a two-kilometre radius; plans for neighbourhood centres such as Kyomukama, Kyomunembe, Kiryani, Nyaruziba, Kikoonjo, Kyakabugahya, Kiyabyenju, Kaitabahendi, Rusiga, Kirongo, Nyangereka and Bukungwe; survey and documentation of the proposed circular road; improvement of the Bus Park, Taxi Park and Central Market; street lighting; and support to small-scale industries with roads, water, electricity and sanitation. The Mayor also announced supporting platforms already taking shape: a Kagadi Town website, recognition of progressive businesses, a Leaders, Landlords, Investors and Stakeholders Forum, and a New Kagadi Development Fund. On revenue, the concept targets UGX 2 billion within five years, anchored on transparency, accountability, fair collection and investment in revenue-generating projects. "If you have ideas, bring them forward. If you have capital, consider investing it in Kagadi. If you have technical expertise, share it with us," the Mayor told the meeting, closing with a call to build a modern, prosperous, inclusive, sustainable, green, smart and investment-ready town together.
